Report: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Battle Royale mode is heading to Nintendo Switch

The rumored new mode could be coming to the hybrid console.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4’s rumored Battle Royale (BR) mode could be coming to Nintendo Switch in the future, according to GamingIntel.

The BR mode is reportedly being worked on by Raven Software, the developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, to make up for the game’s missing single-player campaign.

The BR mode will come packaged as a separate game for Nintendo Switch, according to the report, without any of the multiplayer modes that will be available on the console and PC version of the game. This means that there will be no single-player, no Zombies, and no multiplayer for the Switch version.

This makes the news bittersweet for Switch owners who were hoping for the full Call of Duty experience on their portable consoles.

This could potentially be the first Call of Duty game on Nintendo’s new system since it released on March 2017. The last Call of Duty title to come out on a Nintendo system was Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Nintendo Wii U in 2013.

For BR fans on the Nintendo Switch, however, who have been salivating at the possibility of playing either Fortnite or PlayUnknown’s BattleGrounds on the system, a Call of Duty BR title on the Switch would have little competition to deal with.

The rumor should be taken with a pinch of salt, however, as Activision and Nintendo have not currently announced any plans to bring Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 to the system. System owners will be hoping to hear more about possible Switch titles at this year’s E3 in June.
