Ren “eLeVeN” Yangwei has left EHOME for personal reasons, the player said in a brief statement on his fan page earlier this evening.

Initial reports suggested eLeVeN had been removed from the roster. But in his blog, he says he left of his own volition: “The others tried to convince me (to stay) but I made the decision. I screwed them over, I’m very sorry. If they want me in the future I am still an Ehome man.”

It hasn’t been a good week for EHOME. On May 6, the heavily favored EHOME stumbled in the grand final in the Manila Major against the resurgent Newbee, losing three straight games and missing out on the chance to compete at the upcoming major in the Philippines.

Worse for the Chinese team: Yangwei’s departure now means that they have no chance of being invited to The International 6’s Chinese qualifier. The team does not have a registered substitute on the roster, meaning that EHOME has broken the rules of Valve’s roster-lock and will therefore have to make their way through the The International’s open qualifier.

The team has already found a replacement for Yangwei, however: Newbee Young’s Fan “Fan” Yixuan, who will now fill the carry position for the team.
