In a few weeks the 2015 League of Legends World Championship will begin and I can say for sure that I am hyped. 16 of the best teams from around the globe all converging on Europe to see who can hold the Summoner’s Cup. From the Korean powerhouses SKT T1 to the Brazilian wildcards Pain Gaming; who will show that they are the best team in the world. Will 2015 see the first ever two-time champion? LGD’s Imp and EDG’s Pawn both want to win for their respective teams and also get the glory of retaining their crown as World Champion. On the other hand, for Faker and the rest of SKT T1, they want to forget about missing Worlds last year and win their 2nd title this year. Those aren’t the only stories to follow this year though. Can Fnatic show that they deserve to be called a top 5 team in the world? Will Kakao prove he is the best jungler in the world and take Invictus Gaming deep into this tournament? Can KT Rolster recover from their 3-0 stomp by SKT to be a serious threat at winning the whole thing? How far can Hai and the rest of Cloud 9 go on their miracle run at Worlds? Along with the storylines surrounding the entire tournament there are also the storylines that accompany each of the groups.
CLG got the group they wanted in Group A, but with Huhi in the jungle will they still be able to make it out of the group. Fnatic starts their road to proving themselves by facing off against IG, AHQ, and C9. With no slouches can they make it out or will Europe’s dream die before it even begins. In Group C it’s the battle of the goliaths between SKT and EDG. After EDG beat SKT at MSI you can bet that SKT want revenge. Then in Group D it’s the battle of the top laners in Ssumday, Acorn, Flame, Soaz, and Dyrus.
Along with all the great storylines going into Worlds there is also the news of who’s going to be casting the games. Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles will not only be on the analyst desk this year, but he will also be casting games. And if you have MonteCristo that means you gotta bring in Erik “Doa” Lonnquist as his partner in crime. Doa will finally be making his World’s debut as a caster which is great news for all LCK fans out there. Other new additions to the casting booth this year are Julian “Pastrytime” Carr and Max “Atlus” Anderson who cast the OPL and LPL. OPL/LPL’s Jake “Spawn” Tiberi will also be at Worlds, but on the analyst desk with Aidan “Zirene” Moon and James “Dash” Patterson. With this year having casters from four of the major regions, Worlds is going to be filled to the brim with insight and analysis.
I’ve been excited about the 2015 World Championship ever since the 2014 World Championship ended. For the past 9 months I’ve watched League of Legends from all the major regions and my excitement has been growing steadily. I wanted to write this article just to show how much I can’t wait for Worlds to start on October 1. Hopefully everyone who reads this enjoys it and any comments are welcome. And remember what Martin “Deficio” Lynge said, “It’s Worlds”.
