Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s new offering in the battle royale genre, introduces many new ideas that have not been explored in other games from the genre. One of these is the use of hacks. Hacks are abilities that can be collected around the map and can be used to help advance the player’s position or help them find a quick escape when they are in danger.
There is a total of 10 abilities currently in the game upon entering open beta. In this article, we will be rankings them from worst to best.
10) Reveal
The least useful hack in the game is reveal. There are not enough situations where you are going to need to seek out an enemy that you can not see. Most players keep to rooftops where they are immediately visible and available to engage with. Having Reveal is just going to waste one of your two hack slots that could be utilized by a more effective ability.
9) Mine
Mine is a hack that is best used when someone is chasing you or when bunkered down in a building. It allows the player to place down a homing mine that, when activated, seeks out and damages nearby enemies. This is one of the least helpful abilities in Hyper Scape due to the game encouraging people to remain in the open and face one another instead of holding up inside a structure where this hack excels.
8) Shockwave
Should you find yourself in a surprising close-range engagement with enemies, Shockwave is a great hack to have. The ability is going to send enemies flying away in the air dealing damage and allowing you a short amount of time and space to reposition. Fully upgraded, this ability has a truly short four-second cooldown making it a very viable ability to use.
7) Ball
Nothing in Hyper Scape allows you to get away quicker than Ball. This is a hack that surrounds the player with a giant ball that moves extremely fast. The biggest issues with this hack, however, is that it is so large making it very visible and the fact it can be damaged. If you are playing solo, this is not a bad option to facilitate a quick escape. But we would not recommend using it over other hacks in squads.
6) Armor
Having extra damage reduction is always going to help, and the Armor hack does just that by blocking damage for a short amount of time. This hack can greatly assist when engaging an enemy or to save yourself as you begin to exit an engagement. While it would be recommended to take Heal over Armor as heal effects last, having Armor is a great alternative should you not be able to find heal.
5) Invisibility
Much like Teleport, Invisibility is a fantastic hack for moving around the map and engaging or escaping opponents. Invisibility will make the player temporarily invisible to enemies allowing them to reposition without being seen. The cooldown becomes reasonable at max upgrade being only seven seconds. One thing to consider before using this ability is that as soon as you fire, you lose your invisibility, so make sure you are ready to commit to firefight before you do so.
4) Teleport
Teleport is an ability that is going to be used to engage or escape opponents. As the name suggests, the player can teleport a short distance in the direction they are facing. Escaping enemies becomes easy when you can teleport around a corner out of the line of sight while engaging an enemy from behind. If you’re a solo player, this is a perfect hack to have, but in squads you’re going to want to use it on a team with great communication to ensure you do not teleport straight into an entire squad of enemies.
3) Slam
Slam is a great hack for multiple reasons. This ability allows a player to be both aggressive with a high damage, low-risk entry into combat. But it can also be used as a tool to retreat. Slam launches the player into the air however, it is their choice whether they complete the hack and slam down or if they fall to the ground instead.
Because of its multiple uses, Slam is great for many different playstyles. Once fully upgraded, the cooldown is five seconds and its damage is greatly increased. In squads, slamming in without your teammates can see you become an easy target, however. But in solos, this ability is the perfect tool to get the jump on unsuspecting opponents.
2) Wall
Finding cover is something that will greatly increase your chances of surviving in Hyper Scape. For a game that encourages players to engage with each other and not hide in structures, having a hack like Wall can give you the upper hand when under fire.
Wall is self-explanatory; activating the hack will create a wall where you aim that can be used as cover or when used underneath can be used to scale objects. Some of the best uses for Wall are when you are being chased by an enemy. It can be used to block off a path or to hold off some gunfire. Wall is also extremely useful when you are under fire from a sniper. A well-placed wall is going to completely block their line of site and allow you to reposition or getting ready to fight.
1) Heal
It’s going to come as no surprise to players that healing is your main priority. With the fast-paced nature of the game, you are going to find yourself in many firefights with the need of healing some kind of damage. The Heal hack allows the player to quickly heal off the damage they have taken for not only themselves but any allies that are close by. While initially, the cooldown on heal is quite long, once fully upgraded, the cooldown is substantially lower and the amount that you heal is much higher. This is a hack you are going to need in solo and something at least one teammate should have access to in squad games.
