FaZe Clan’s Tfue and Cloak win their third Friday Fortnite tournament

FaZe Fortnite is on fire.

FaZe Clan’s top duo of Turner “Tfue” Tenney and Dennis “Cloak” Lepore crushed another set of teams this week to win their third Friday Fortnite tournament.

The pair took down some of the most popular and talented players en route to the grand finals, including inaugural champions Sypher “SypherPK” Ali and Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff, as well as the team of KingRichard and AimbotCalvin.

In the grand finals, they met their fellow winners bracket finalists again, Avery “Avxry” Lopriore and Jimmy “HighDistortion” Moreno. With a winners bracket advantage, which forced Avxry and HighDistortion to take separate series to win the tournament, the momentum gained by the former champions proved to be too much for the losers bracket representative to overcome.

FaZe started off the series with a great display of slaying, eliminating 20 players to take a seven-kill lead into game two. Avxry and HighDistortion responded with a necessarily aggressive strategy of advancing on Tilted Towers, the most-populated area on the map.

Unfortunately for them, there were just a few too many players in the little town. Despite getting six kills just minutes into the game, the team died after HighDistortion was knocked out by an opposing player and subsequently stuck with a Clinger. Unbeknownst to the grenade on his teammate, Avxry raced to HighDistortion, which sealed his team’s fate.

The win is just another great moment in Tfue and Cloak’s past month. The last 30 days have been wonderful for the FaZe pairing, who won their first Friday Fortnite on May 25, claiming the $10,000 grand prize. After failing to finish in the top three the following week, FaZe came back strong on June 8, completing an incredible losers bracket run to become the first team in tournament history to win more than one event.

Today’s tournament victory earns FaZe another $10,000, but the second and third-place teams won’t leave empty-handed. For their runner-up performance, Avxry and HighDistortion will get $7,000, while the third-place team, TSM’s Darryle “Hamlinz” Hamlin and Ali “Myth” Kabbani, received $3,000.

Tfue and Cloak may have won their third title, further cementing themselves as one of the best Fortnite duos in the world, but teams will certainly be gunning for them even more in next week’s tournament on June 29.
