One of the biggest players in European League of Legends esports history, Bwipo has revealed the player who could’ve gone toe-to-toe with Caps, arguably the finest mid laner that Europe has ever produced.
“I think Nemesis is the only mid laner that I played with that got close to contesting Caps ever. I personally think he’s significantly better than Humanoid. For me, he’s the only mid laner who got close to Caps in his own style,” Bwipo said in one of his League of Legends livestreams.
While comparing Nemesis’ playstyle with the current Fnatic mid laner Humanoid, Bwipo explained how he needs his team to play around him to succeed, while Nemesis barely needed anyone to achieve results. “Nemesis was actively performing comparably to the best against the greatest of all time player with absolutely no one or nothing helping him at Caps’ peak. We can all agree 2019 Caps was a fucking beast,” he further said.
Caps was playing with G2 Esports in 2019 and was an integral part of the team that ended up securing the Mid-Season Invitational, becoming the only Western team to achieve that feat. They also went on to become the runners-up of Worlds 2019.
Nemesis played for Fnatic since 2018 and the statistics prove he was indeed at his peak while playing against Caps in 2019. According to LoL stats site Oracle’s Elixir, Nemesis had the highest KDA among all the mid laners in the 2019 LEC Summer and Spring Splits, crossing 5.5 in the tournament. Moreover, he was the only second to Caps in the number of kills (90) in the summer. He left the team in 2020 after being replaced by Nisqy in the mid lane and retired from esports to become a streamer for Gen.G.
Bwipo has been one of the biggest reasons for Fnatic’s success in LEC and the international stage. He has been with the men in orange from 2018 to 2021, where he started as a top laner and also played as a jungler depending on the team’s needs. After that, he moved to Team Liquid to play in the LCS, and he’s currently playing as a top laner for FlyQuest, who recently won the LCS Summer Championship.
Rising with the Caps’ fantastic performances over the years, G2 Esports has been dominating Europe and are one of the only EU teams with strong showings on the global LoL stage. They’ve also recently become the only team to complete the LEC Slam: an unassailable sign of dominance, courtesy of having Caps as the steady backbone of the squad.
Since Nemesis’ and Nisqy’s departure, Fnatic has been doing quite well, reaching finals but always falling short of G2 Esports. Maybe someone like Nemesis could’ve been the difference-maker, someone who could have pushed their rivalry to even greater heights.
