Delves make up a huge part of The War Within, acting as the perfect PvE gameplay mode for solo players and folk who prefer doing content in smaller groups.
They can be lucrative if you manage your resources well. Here’s a guide on how to get and use Undercoins in World of Warcraft, including which Delves to do and which NPCs to watch out for.
How to get Undercoins in WoW The War Within
Undercoins are a new currency in World of Warcraft specifically tied to Delves. While they can technically be earned at any level, level 80 players are likelier to see these odd little coins pop up when tackling Delve content.
The first way that you can earn Undercoins is through completing Delve-related quests.
While more Undercoin quests may be added to the game at a later date, the main quest that offers Undercoins is The Key to Success. This weekly quest starts when an Archaic Cipher Key drops from Heavy or Bountiful Heavy Trunks.
To complete the weekly quest, take the Archaic Cipher Key back to Elise Starseeker at the Delver’s Headquarters in Dornogal. This rewards 150 Resonance Crystals, 1500 Delver’s Journey progress points, and 750 Undercoins, along with a chunk of experience.
The second way to earn Undercoins is to complete relevant Delves—either Bountiful Delves, which glow on the map, or Delves with the Zekvir’s Influence trait. The latter trait can only be seen in Tier Four or higher, meaning you need to complete the TWW campaign and hit level 80 first.
Bountiful Delves are also a level 80 exclusive. They’re tied to a Delver’s Journal quest, creatively called Bountiful Delves, and they offer extra rewards from Bountiful Coffers.
To unlock Bountiful Coffers, you need to get Restored Coffer Keys—do this by purchasing them from the Undercoin vendor, picking them up from weekly world quest caches (only your first four), purchasing them from Renown vendors, or combining 100 Coffer Key Shards.
The Restored Coffer Keys become more affordable as you progress with the Delver’s Journey track, a good incentive to stay on top of your weekly quests.
The Zekvir’s Influence affix makes certain mobs stronger throughout a Delve and ensures that the final chest has more Undercoins than usual.
To maximize how many Undercoins you can pick up, first hit max level as quickly as possible and make sure you’ve finished the main Khaz Algar campaign.
Then, burn through the earlier levels of Delves to get to Tier Four and above. Keep an eye on your map for Bountiful Delves—the location rotates, meaning it’s not always the same zone or Delve—and prepare for tough mobs with the Zekvir’s Influence affix.
Where to spend Undercoins in WoW The War Within
To spend your Undercoins on treasures and collectibles, hop on your flying mount and head to the Delver’s Headquarters in Dornogal.
It’s fairly central, near the Stoneshaper’s Atrium. Inside, you can speak to Sir Finley Mrrgglton, Brann, and Elise Starseeker. You can also sort Brann’s Delve gear out in this location by using the tools on the table before him.
To spend your hard-earned Undercoins, speak to Sir Finley Mrrgglton to see what he has to offer. These rewards will change with the season, similar to the Trading Post, and you can see a glimpse of what’s for sale by checking out the mannequins in front of the intrepid murloc.
In terms of collectibles and cosmetics, Sir Finley Mrrgglton’s season one rewards include the Sir Shady Mrrgglton Junior battle pet, Delver’s Dirigible schematics, and a handful of toys like the Abyss Caller Horn.
Resources and currency items are up for grabs, like reagents and Resonance Crystals, alongside catch-up gear tokens to help your Warband get into shape, and item level 567 green armor, trinkets, and weapons. As mentioned, Restored Coffer Keys are for sale here as well.
Some of the Undercoin vendor items are quite pricey—like the battle pet, which currently costs 10,000 Undercoins—so it’s worth planning which items you want to save up for and what to buy first. These will rotate out, so don’t leave it too long to farm Undercoins if there’s something you’ve got your heart set on.
