The answer to the “Emotion in “Inside Out 2” who opens up a “sar-chasm” in Riley’s mind” clue from the Sept. 12 NYT Mini Crossword puzzle is “ENNUI.” In Inside Out 2, Ennui embodies Riley’s (the girl whom these emotions belong to) boredom. When Riley had to pretend she was being sarcastic about something she liked, this opened up the “sar-chasm” in her mind.

‘Emotion in “Inside Out 2” who opens up a “sar-chasm” in Riley’s mind’ clue difficulty

I’ve never seen Inside Out 2 and don’t know if I ever will watch it. So, when I read this clue, I knew I was going to be in trouble—until I remembered a recent event in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This event was Inside Out 2-themed and mentioned Ennui, which was how I was able to solve this clue. If I hadn’t played Dreamlight Valley, I would never have gotten this clue and I’m sure others felt like it was impossible. This is why I’d give it a difficulty rating of five out of five.
