Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a dream come true for many Potterheads, bringing the broom-riding sport to life in video game form.

Quidditch, just like soccer or football, is full of unique positions that play different roles on the pitch. It’s important to know everything you can about each role to master your ability to win matches online or in the campaign mode.

Here’s everything to know about positions in Quidditch Champions and how to play them.

If you’re new to Quidditch or just need a refresher on how the game works, below you can find the details on every position on the pitch to help you decide which one is for you when heading into online matches.

Each Quidditch team has three Chasers, two Beaters, one Seeker, and one Keeper.

Chaser

Chasers can be considered the forwards of Quidditch as their job is to chase the Quaffle and throw it through the opposition’s goal hoops to score points. Each throw through the goal is worth 10 points.

This is a very active role as the Chasers will fly back and forth across the pitch, chasing down the Quaffle and attempting to steal it from other players.

Beater

The Beater’s job is to play defense, but they can play as aggressively or defensively as they wish. Beaters can summon the dodgeball-like Bludger to throw at opponents to deal HP damage, and they can also tackle players to deal damage. When a player’s HP is depleted, they fall off their broom.

Seeker

This is the role made famous by the Chosen One himself. Harry Potter rose to glory on the Quidditch pitch as the Seeker, whose sole job is to spot the Golden Snitch when it heads into the field of play to chase it down.

In Quidditch Champions, the Seeker must spot the Golden Snitch from afar and then chase it down. The Snitch will fly from end to end of the pitch, leaving golden rings in its wake, and when you fly through the rings, it gives you a speed and stamina boost.

Flying through a certain number of rings and keeping the Snitch in your sights while flying behind it will fill up a meter. Once the meter is filled, you can then grab the Snitch once you’re close enough to it for a whopping 50 points on the board for your house.

Keeper

The Keeper has arguably the simplest job, but one of the most important on the pitch. Keepers float by their team’s goal rings and must defend them from the Quaffle being thrown into them, as a goalkeeper would do in other similar games like hockey or soccer.

Keepers can catch thrown Quaffles or kick them out of the goal and back onto the pitch in an effort to clear out their side of the game.

When queuing up for a multiplayer match, you can select one of three roles (or choose “any”): Keeper and Chaser, Beater and Chaser, or Seeker and Chaser. You can freely switch back and forth between the two characters as you play.

Because of this, it behooves you to become familiar with two roles: Chaser and something else, and then specialize in that role.
