Black Myth Wukong devs reportedly planning at least 7 more chapters for future DLC

And a sequel too, but prepare for quite a wait.

Black Myth: Wukong developer Game Science has grand plans for its smash-hit action RPG, with as many as 13 chapters originally in the pipeline before it eventually launched with just six episodes—though those missing seven chapters are reportedly set to land in player’s hands as DLC soon enough.

In a Sept. 2 X (formerly Twitter) post, Industry insider Lunatic Ignus claimed Game Science is planning at least two DLCs for Black Myth: Wukong, further delving into the game’s faithful recreation of the Chinese novel Journey to the West. Lunatic Ignus said half the game’s chapters were ultimately cut “because of the budget” but that this unreleased content wasn’t left on the cutting room floor and will instead arrive as DLCs.

These seven chapters weren’t specifically mentioned as what players should expect from the next two DLCs, but if work has been started on developing the chapters, it’s highly likely we’ll see some adaptation of them when the DLCs arrive. A second insider post was spotted on Chinese site TapTap which further breaks down what the DLC packs might look like, but without official word from the devs, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

Lunatic Ignus mentioned the DLC packs would be available before the release of Game Science’s supposed sequel to Wukong, Black Myth: Jiang Ziya. Again, the Black Myth devs haven’t announced anything related to a sequel or DLC, but the company did register trademarks for two more Black Myth titles back in July, so perhaps we’re seeing a Chinese mythology gaming universe form in front of our very eyes.

That said, given how long it took Game Science to develop Wukong (six years), and the fact we haven’t heard anything official just yet, it may be some time until we see Wukong‘s DLC or a potential sequel to the series. The game isn’t even out on Xbox yet, so don’t hold your breath for anything new on the sequel front just yet!
