Diablo 4 devs are finally adding more character slots, extra stash tab

But is it too little too late?

Blizzard seems to have finally heard the Diablo 4 community’s cries, because players are getting two more character slots and an extra stash tab as part of the Vessel of Hatred expansion.

Speaking to Diablo content creator Rob2628 during Gamescom last week, Vessel of Hatred developers Tiffany K. Wat and Rex Dickson hinted at a few quality-of-life improvements that are inbound with Diablo 4’s Season 6 update. Chief among them are, of course, the additional character slots and stash tabs.

Diablo 4 launched with 10 character slots and increased the number to 12 with the Season 2 update. But as the ARPG community has said time and again, it wasn’t anywhere near enough—especially considering Softcore and Hardcore characters shared the same pool of 12.

While increasing the number of character slots by two again is a welcome move, we also have to keep in mind that Vessel of Hatred will introduce a new character class—the Spiritborn—into the fray. So, there’s not much wiggle room for the base classes if you’re a seasoned Diablo 4 player looking to experiment with different builds.

The extra stash tab, in the same vein, will now let players have a maximum of five stash tabs. But, again, players feel most likely an inadequate solution, especially considering all the new items and other collectibles coming with Vessel of Hatred.

The devs promised to reveal more of what’s to come with the expansion in the next Diablo 4 Campfire Chat, which is scheduled later today, Aug. 29.

Diablo 4 Season 6 alongside the Vessel of Hatred expansion launches on Oct. 8. Check out our countdown so you know exactly how much longer is left to wait.
