How to upgrade Booms in TFT

Upgrading Booms is harder than you think.

Booms in Teamfight Tactics were once exclusive to battle pass rewards. Riot overhauled the cosmetic rewards starting with Set 10, leaving many players wondering how to upgrade Booms.

The TFT Set 12 battle pass includes several Booms, locked for free-to-play players. For those like myself who used to collect three or more Booms from battle passes, we have a collection featuring options to upgrade them. But nothing seems to work. After reaching out to Riot Games, here’s what I found out about upgrading TFT Booms.

When can TFT Booms be upgraded?

Dot Esports reached out to Riot wondering if Star Shards or a cosmetic piece I was unaware of upgraded Booms. The question has been posted on the internet plenty of times and answers always vary. I was informed by Lindsay Honig at Riot that there’s no way to upgrade a TFT Boom at time of writing on Aug. 13.

The ever-growing TFT team is “looking for ways to fix this,” according to Honig. No fixes are dropping anytime soon. But it’s nice to know the team is aware of the Boom issue and is testing ways for us to upgrade our classic Booms stashed away in our inventory.

What are the TFT Set 12 Booms and how to find them?

Located in the TFT Set 12 battle pass are two Booms: Broom Boom and Demolition Donut. Two other Booms are tied to Chibi Champion bundles and one was offered for a limited time.

  • Broom Boom (battle pass)
  • Demolition Donut (battle pass)
  • Miss Fortune Make it Rain Boom
  • Battle Bunny Make it Rain Boom
  • Bootcamp Boom (available for a limited time)

Each season in TFT now has two battle passes. At time of writing, the Booms included in the second battle pass for Set 12 have not been revealed.
