Age of Mythology: Retold is a modern remake of the 2002 RTS from the developer of Age of Empires. In Age of Mythology, you command gods, monsters, and humans in an epic fantasy world. If you want to jump into an old-school RTS, Retold might be the perfect game for you.

Age of Mythology: Retold launches on Sept. 4, 2024. The developer hasn’t given a concrete release time, so (for now) we predict the game will go live at midnight CT on Sept. 4. What platforms will Age of Mythology: Retold release for?

Age of Mythology Retold will be available on PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S consoles. It won’t be available for last generation’s Xbox One. PlayStation and Switch players are out of luck, as the game won’t be launching for those platforms at all.

The good news, though, is that Age of Mythology Retold will be available on both PC and Xbox versions of Game Pass, according to its Xbox store listing.

Can you pre-order Age of Mythology: Retold?

Yes, Age of Mythology Retold is available for pre-order now on Steam and the Xbox Store. The base game costs $30 on Steam, or you can pay an extra $20 to get seven days of early access. If you’re a die-hard Age of Mythology fan, the early access might be worth it—but if I were you, I’d wait for the full launch.
