Fortnite v30.40 patch notes: Fall Guys, X-Men skins, Minigun unvaulted, and more

I can't wait to get Cyclops.

The final update in Chapter Five, season three has arrived in Fortnite and brought with it a decent amount of content to close out the season. If you’re wondering what this update includes, it’s worth reviewing the Fortnite v30.40 patch notes.

The official patch notes don’t always include everything you can actually find in the update and oftentimes also don’t go into too much detail, which means you may be seeking further information about it. There’s a lot of fresh content to explore, so here’s everything featured in Fortnite’s v30.40 update.

Fall Guys everything

The biggest part of this update is the massive Fall Guys collaboration, which has taken over just about everything in Fortnite. You can participate in this special crossover in various ways, including:

  • Fall Guys islands – These official maps are made by Mediatonic Labs and Epic Games. If you want to play some levels, enjoying this crossover event through these islands is the way to go. You can also create and publish your own Fall Guys islands.
  • Fall Guys obstacle course – This epic challenge can be found in Battle Royale and features a huge course you can navigate through to claim some exclusive rewards.
  • Fall Guys rewards – Finishing all six Where We Fallin’? quests gets you a Fall Guys Banner Icon, a Fall Guys Jam Track, and a Fall Guys Back Bling.

X-Men skins

Although they’re not out just yet, various prominent members of the Fortnite leak community have found a fresh X-Men collaboration in the game files for this update. The leaked skins include Cyclops, Jubilee, and Colossus, plus an array of cosmetic accessories and emotes.

Return of the Minigun

An old Fortnite weapon has been unvaulted in this update, which means you can jump into the game to start using the Minigun now. The Minigun is a massive weapon that deals lots of damage but is also highly inaccurate and only capable of firing a few shots at a time.

Dragon Ball skins

In addition to the X-Men collaboration, some fresh Dragon Ball skins were uncovered by leakers in this update too. This includes both Android 17 and Android 18, plus Back Blings to go with them. Past Dragon Ball skins like Goku will likely also return to the shop when these skins are released since this is usually how collaborations work.

LEGO Fortnite content

The v30.40 update also features lots of fresh content for LEGO Fortnite, including fast travel, more vehicles, the ability to change the settings of an existing world, and a lot more. There’s so much content for this mode alone that LEGO Fortnite v30.40 has its own separate patch notes worth reviewing.

Live event

A new live event, likely one that will help transition the game from Chapter Five, season three to Chapter Five, season four, currently has a countdown displayed at Redline Rig. It’s unknown exactly what this event will entail, but it will officially begin on Aug. 10.
