How to get cheap MTG Arena Draft tokens

Save money.

Playing Magic: the Gathering on Arena is expensive, but there are ways to play your favorite formats without spending a fortune.

One of my favorite ways to play on MTG Arena is Draft and Sealed events, better known as the Limited format. Premier Draft is the closest to any in-person events you can get, drafting and playing against other players, not bots. Despite the budget-friendly cost of Premium Drafts, playing 10 events will end up costing over $100. But there are ways to get Draft tokens at discount prices, saving hundreds of dollars.

Here’s everything you need to know about get cheap MTG Arena Draft tokens.

When is the next Draft token sale in MTG Arena?

The most recent MTG Arena Draft token sale will run from 10am CT on July 26 to 10am CT on July 27. This 24-hour sale showcased 10 percent off a Draft token:

  • Draft token gem price on sale: 1,350
  • Draft token gold price on sale: 9,000

It’s not unusual for WotC to drop Draft token sales around the release of a new set, like Bloomburrow, which digitally launches on July 30.

Where to find cheap Draft tokens on MTG Arena?

The best ways to get cheap MTG Arena Draft tokens are through preorder bundles for new sets, daily sales in the Store, and seasonal battle passes.

Check flash MTG Arena deals daily to get the most for your money. Around the release of a new set, WotC traditionally offers a Draft token at 10 percent off. You may use gold earned from playing or gems that are typically bought from the Store or earned as an event reward.

Preorder bundles, like the Play bundle, are often available around two to three weeks before a new set is released on MTG Arena. The most recent Play bundle was for Bloomburrow. For $24.99, you get two Draft tokens and one Sealed token, which is worth around $30 if purchased individually at regular price.

Seasonal passes can also offer a Draft token as a reward, and typically before level 20. A Mastery Pass in MTG Arena can be purchased at any time, so you can wait until you hit the Draft token level before then buying one. Another option is to buy the Pass bundle ($14.99) through the preorder bundles.

How to earn MTG Arena Draft tokens?

Draft tokens in MTG Arena can be earned by winning gold and gems from events. The Premier Draft refunds gems spent on the event through four wins with no more than two losses. Winning six games nets you an extra 700 gems.

Traditional Draft is slightly different, coming close to even through two wins while three MTG wins will earn you 1,000 extra gems.

Where to use Draft tokens in MTG Arena?

Draft tokens are redeemable for Premier and Traditional Draft events. Quick Drafts, which use bots to draft instead of other players, cost less than the other Draft events and won’t redeem a Draft token. The Draft token also won’t work for Sealed events, as they use a Sealed token.
