Grand Theft Auto 5 has appeared numerous times on the Xbox Game Pass service for consoles. After coming and going on Microsoft’s cherished platform, it’s high time the profitable piece of entertainment made its way to Game Pass for PC, and leaks suggest that’s happening soon.
This information was first brought up by prominent Rockstar Games leaker TezFunz2 today, July 29, on their X (formerly Twitter) account. “Rockstar Games is preparing GTA 5 to be playable via Xbox’s PC Game Pass,” they wrote. When asked whether or not this will require the Rockstar Games Launcher, TezFunz 2 said “Yes. You may launch it from the Xbox app, but it will go through the RGL, so it won’t be cross-platform.” The giant third-person sandbox has previously been featured on the Game Pass for Consoles, but never made its way to the PC version of the service.
GTA 5 left the Game Pass for consoles earlier this year and is currently not available. Given its track record, it’s likely to make a return at some point, though its transient nature throws shade at its potential PC Game Pass presence. It’s still unclear whether or not the game will permanently stay on the platform, and if not, how long it will last before being removed. What matters, however, is that it will prop up the Game Pass library—even if temporarily.
Game Pass itself has seen changes recently, and will need all the help it can get to bolster its offerings amid the recent price hike. The tiers being segmented further also means players going for cheaper options will likely be left out of this new addition. Be that as it may, it’s good to see big names making it to the subscription services and justifying their very existence.
