Diablo 4’s new Spiritborn class looks fun enough to bring me back for the expansion

This class is looking quite fun and deadly.

Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred DLC is less than three months away, and for the first time, I’m staring at the pre-order page on Battle.net.

Yesterday, Blizzard Entertainment revealed the Spiritborn, the new class being added as part of the game’s first expansion. It has me itching to come back for its release in early October, and that’s saying quite a lot at this point.

I loved Diablo 4 on release but fell off hard when it came to seasonal content. It just didn’t draw me in. But with a new story continuation, new class, and more to look forward to, I might be back. And the Spiritborn is the main reason for it.

“Spiritborn are versatile warriors who fuse devastating three-hit-combo attacks and acrobatic fluidity into a potent display of their ferocity,” Blizzard said. “They are masters of hand-to-hand combat, doling out lethality at close range through the ability to extend their wrath with the aid of spirit energy and their favored demon-slaying implement, the glaive. Their physical prowess allows them to block or dodge incoming strikes, absorbing this power for themselves or redirecting it back at their aggressors.”

A glaive is enough to get me interested, but the Spiritborn’s true power lies in their ability to summon powers of jungle creature Spirit Guardians to aid them in battle. There’s a jaguar, gorilla, eagle, and centipede spirit among the skills that can be called upon, and all of them look awesome.

Jaguar abilities swipe and slash, while the gorilla slams and stomps, the eagle can fly and swoop, and the centipede poisons and causes AoE damage. All of it looks really fun and reminiscent of the Druid class I fell in love with at launch.

For more info on Spiritborn, check out the Blizzard website before Vessel of Hatred launches on Oct. 8.
