Shroud gets worst CS:GO rank of his life in brief return to the game on Twitch

Double AK isn't enough for shroud.

Former professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player and now streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek briefly returned to CS:GO last night—only to be disappointed at the rank he ultimately earned. He played a competitive match after weeks away from the game and won it, but only reached the sixth highest rank in the game, Master Guardian Elite.

“I’ve never had this rank in my life,” shroud told viewers on his Twitch chat. laughing. “I’m a double AK player now, boys.” In CS:GO, double AK is the best rank of the second tier, which means there’s an entire tier of six rankings higher than that. For a former pro, being double AK obviously isn’t something to brag about. Most professional players are in the top rank The Global Elite.

Shroud took it in good humor, though. He retired retired from CS:GO a litte more than a year ago. Since then, he’s become a full-time streamer on Twitch, where he streams first-person shooter games like Apex Legends and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. He hasn’t, however, played much CS:GO .

Shroud played the game last night only for a few hours to have some fun. Don’t expect him to keep it up regularly though. “I’ll see you guys in two months,” shroud said to his teammates after leaving his last ranked match yesterday.

His results weren’t great. He only won his first match on Overpass and was run over by opponents on Inferno and Vertigo. He got the Master Guardian Elite rank after his Overpass victory, so we don’t know yet how the other two losses might have affected this rank.

Shroud played most of his professional CS:GO career for Cloud9. He joined the team in 2014 and stayed there until his retirement.
