Which of the four houses will you choose?

A new League of Legends login screen has made its way to the game’s Public Beta Environment in today’s update, and it seems to resemble an event previously previewed in a Dev Diary.

Titled “Houses 2019,” the new login screen features four distinct emblems: red, blue, green, and purple illuminated symbols. A person—who appears to be a young male character—stands at the center of the screen staring up at the emblems as the music for this year’s Mid-Season Invitational plays in the background.

Riot Games has provided little context alongside the release of the login screen, but the screen seems to resemble an event mentioned in a Dev Diary video released in January previewing this year’s upcoming events.

“There’s one in particular that I’m really excited about that’s going to happen early in the year,” Riot’s skins team producer Carlos Giffoni said. “It’s inspired by shonen anime, and it’s going to feature a cast of super-powered individuals that you know as well as a new champion.”

The Dev Diary previewed two sets of emblems, each featuring four distinct badge-like symbols. The red, blue, green, and purple emblems carry different class titles including “Battle Club,” “Engineer Club,” “Assassination Club,” and “Sorcery Club,” followed by first or second year. Above the emblems is a larger badge labeled “Teacher.”

Shonen manga or anime typically follows a teenage cast of male characters as they set off on a series of adventures. Popular shonen anime include titles like One Piece, Naruto, and Dragon Ball Z.

It remains to be seen what the shonen-themed event will bring, although it seems as though players will have the chance to choose between four distinct “clubs” or “houses.”

Given the fact that the MSI music plays in the login screen background, it’s possible the event could take place during the international tournament—similar to last year’s World Championship and Halloween events.
