Twinspell

Twinspell is a new keyword that definitely seems to have meta implications. When you cast a spell with Twinspell, it adds another copy of that spell to your hand. The new copy of the spell doesn’t have Twinspell, which means a card with Twinspell can be cast a max of two times. This mechanic is similar to Echo, but different because the spells don’t have to be played in the same turn.

Lackeys

Lackeys are a new and unique type of token card. Lackeys can’t be placed into your deck, but instead, are generated by other Rise of Shadows cards. So far we know of five Lackeys. Each Lackey appears to be related to one of the five villains who are believed to appear in the Rise of Shadows solo player mode. Each Lackey so far is a one-mana-cost, one-attack, and one-health minion, but their appeal comes from their unique Battlecries. Each Lackey has a helpful Battlecry that generates big tempo for such a low cost card.

Schemes

Scheme cards are sure to be a welcome addition to anyone who enjoys playing big value Control decks. Scheme cards grow in power each turn they’re in your hand. Each turn, a number on your Scheme card will increase. It will be interesting to see how they shape various Control list going forward and also to see how they dictate the pace of Control heavy match-ups.

Callback cards

Callback cards are cards that have a keyword or mechanic that relates to a past expansion. There is expected to be one Callback card per class. The Priest callback card Forbidden Words hearkens back to the “Forbidden” mechanic from Whispers of the Old Gods. This allows players to spend mana in exchange for something taking place on the field.
