With over a month and 50 million downloads under its belt, Apex Legends may finally be getting its own report system.
Since the game’s release in early February, players have been asking for a convenient way to report suspicious players without having to fill out forms through EA’s online report system. According to the game’s developers, the game will be seeing a patch over the next week, which may finally include an in-game report system.
Going through EA’s system is the only way players can report others they believe to be cheating right now. Unlike other online games, Apex Legends lacks a way for players to report opponents using an in-game system, leaving many players frustrated with the lack of convenient options.
Respawn Entertainment has actively taken steps to punish cheaters in the past. According to the game’s FAQ page, Apex Legends uses an anti-cheat system from Kamu, industry-leading anti-cheat service, for PC servers. In an update posted to Reddit in mid-February, the Apex Legends developer revealed that over 16,000 cheaters had been identified and banned from the game in its first week.
In the same update, Respawn Entertainment pointed to the future for an in-game report system: “We have heard your feedback about a report feature in the game. I’ll just say that’s a very good idea.”
According to Dexerto, Apex Legends’ product manager Lee Horn spoke about the possibility of an upcoming report system. “A more detailed post about cheating is coming, so I don’t want to steal [Community Manager] Jay’s thunder, but a reporting feature is definitely on the way,” Horn said.
Apex Legends saw its most recent balance update on Wednesday, but Respawn Entertainment has confirmed an additional update to be released over the next week that will include issues outside of balance updates—even possibly a report system.
