After a three-year hiatus, one of League of Legends‘ most exciting game modes has finally returned to the live servers.
Nexus Blitz is coming back for a limited time, bringing the pandemonium and chaos that summoners have come to expect and love with random events that should bring equal amounts of delight and disarray.
Originally introduced as an experimental game mode by Riot Games in 2018, Nexus Blitz is a fast-paced, action-focused version of League that has a plethora of in-game events to spice up any game. Whether you’re fighting for survival in a battle royale-like circle, playing King of the Hill, or racing Scuttle Crabs, there is plenty to do and lots of laughs ahead.
It’ll be fun to discover the event while jumping into a game, it is also a good idea to prepare yourself a bit by learning some of the random events that you’ll encounter during your games. Here are all of the in-game events that you can experience in Nexus Blitz.
Every random event in Nexus Blitz
Bardle Royale
Warzone and PUBG enthusiasts will be familiar with Bardle Royale since it takes most of its inspiration from the intense battle royale genre. The two teams will need to eliminate each other as a circle of fire slowly closes in on one section of the map, with the “final circle” slightly favoring the team that is behind. Players who are eliminated are placed in stasis until the event ends.
Bardle Royale: Juggernaut
Run the same rules as Bardle Royale, except one random player on each team is designated as the juggernaut, which grants them a high amount of health and the On Fire! buff.
Bardle Royale: Paranoia
I hope you aren’t afraid of the dark. In this version of Bardle Royale, pings are disabled and allied vision is disabled as players have their vision drastically reduced. Stumble around and find your targets before the circle reaches you.
URF Deathmatch
All players are given the Awesome Buff of Awesomely Awesome Buffing, which is the same effect that is given during Ultra Rapid Fire matches. Teams fight in a best-of-three match and are thrown in the middle of the map to fight to the death. No brain, all fight.
Loot Goblin
A Loot Teemo or Loot Veigar spawns in the middle of the map. When hit with auto attacks or spells, the Loot Goblin gives 25 percent of the damage dealt as gold. Whichever team scores the last hit on the goblin wins the event. Veigar differs from Teemo because he uses his Dark Matter and Event Horizon spells while fleeing.
Push the Cart
A cart spawns in the center of the map, and teams are tasked with escorting the cart to their opposing team’s base. If the cart approaches a turret, it will instantly slam into it, destroy it, and disappear. If the event lasts too long, the game will be decided by the next person to touch the cart.
Push the Cart: Attack and Defend
This version of Push the Cart gives a cart to both teams on the map. The objective is similar, with teams wanting to push their cart over to the enemy side to destroy a structure of theirs. They will, however, need to stop the opposing team’s cart by standing next to it. As a result, teams will have to balance their efforts across pushing their own cart, stopping the opposing cart from moving, and defending their own cart.
Prize Fight
Prize Fight is a three-round game mode that features two two-vs-twos and a one-vs-one match. Players are matched up based on how much gold they’ve collected. Whichever team wins more rounds will win the mode.
King of the Hill
A “hill” is randomly placed on the map, where players will battle for supremacy. The hill’s spawn position will slightly favor the losing team. Players who stand uncontested in the area will gain progress for the mode, but enemy progress must be drained before gaining your own. The first team to gain full control over the hill will be victorious.
Scuttle Racing
Two Rift Scuttlers will spawn side-by-side on the map. Players must guide their own Scuttle Crab to the finish line, while also stalling the enemy crab by draining its health to zero, which will stun it for a brief moment. To ensure that no match ends in a tie, one crab will be given a slight headstart.
Protect the Soraka
Teams are assigned their own Soraka bot, which will spawn in the top lane. These two Sorakas will have access to the Astral Infusion ability to heal themselves and allied champions and will cast Equinox toward enemy champions. The first team to kill the opposing Soraka will win the mode. The catch is she’s loaded up with multiple items, including Luden’s Tempest, Spirit Visage, Locket of the Iron Solari, Redemption, and Athene’s Unholy Grail.
DPS Check
A practice dummy will spawn in the center of the map, or slightly closer to the team that is behind. Teams will have 75 seconds to deal more damage to the dummy than the opposing team. Whichever side deals the most damage to the dummy will win the mode.
Sudden Death: Nexus Blitz
The last event of the game mode will appear at around the 18-minute mark, which causes all players to respawn at their respective bases. After a few moments, the Nexus of both sides will transform into a massive creature that will march through the mid lane until they collide and fight among each other. The first team to take down their opponent’s Nexus wins.
