Exit Through the Sector Alpha: DMZ Mission Guide

Quick and easy—if you know where to go.

Excitement for Call of Duty’s DMZ has only grown as the season has ripened and players have begun to unlock the highest tier squad missions for each faction, with tier four and above proving to be one hell of a challenge to players.

The Crown faction missions are particularly difficult, but one mission, Exit Through the Sector Alpha, isn’t so bad. This quest sees you navigate the Koschei Complex’s Defence Research Division for alternate escape routes on your way to the Chemical Plant—and you’ll need a particular piece of kit to guide you.

Here’s how to complete the Exit Through the Sector Alpha mission in DMZ.

How to complete Exit Through the Sector Alpha in DMZ, a guide

Exit Through the Sector Alpha is a tier-four story mission for the Crown faction in DMZ. To complete this mission, you will need to find two boarded-up stairwells in the DRD, also known as the Defense Research Division, inside the Koschei Complex.

The mission has two main steps:

  • Locate the two stairwell exits in the DRD.
  • Scan each exit with a Geiger counter.

It’s a pretty simple mission but paramount to progressing your reputation with Crown and unlocking those sweet tier-five missions and rewards.

Locating the first stairwell exit in the Defense Research Division

To find the stairwell exits, you’ll need to first enter the DRD. This zone is locked inside Koschei Complex, a second map deep beneath the sands of Al Mazrah. Specifically, you’ll need to enter Koschei via the Oasis entrance in D2 on your Tactical Map.

Enter the Oasis ruins and head down to the Koschei entrance bunker. Once inside, progress forward until you reach the first “puzzle room.” If you’re unaware, the Oasis entrance has three puzzles to complete, where you’ll need to use the emergency shut buttons to close off bunker doors emitting radiation.

If the buttons are damaged, you’ll need to enter the contaminated room and manually shut the doors with the valve. Bring a Gas Mask or some Radiation Blockers to assist you here. As soon as you enter the first console room you’ll see a Geiger counter on the table directly ahead of you. If you aren’t already equipped with one, grab this now.

After completing the first puzzle and moving deeper into the DRD, you’ll come across an open room with a stairwell blocked by boards and a shut gate. This is the first stairwell—all you’ll have to do is pull out your Geiger counter and stand close to the door.

Locating the second stairwell exit

You’ll receive a notification on your mission list to say you’ve located the first stairwell. All you’ll have to do now is progress even deeper into the DRD and toward the Chemical Plant to find the second. Again, you’ll come across another puzzle room but this time guarded with a sentry gun and armored troops.

I always take out the sentry gun from range behind the door, then target the troops. One will rush toward you with C4: Bring him down quickly as otherwise he’ll catch you with the explosion.

Once the sentry gun and enemy troops are dead, complete the next puzzle. Shut the required doors via the console buttons or the valves, then proceed. Again, you’ll come across another open room with another boarded-off stairwell. Get close to it, open your Geiger counter, and the mission will be complete.

For this mission, you’ll be rewarded with the Waiting For Action Calling Card and a cool 30,000 XP, and you’ll also unlock the super-difficult tier-five missions.
