How to complete The Flying Tile quest in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

Very hard-to-find tiles.

One of the first side quests you can find in Gerudo Desert in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom tasks you with finding a specific hidden echo called a Flying Tile without any idea where you need to go.

The quest giver, Tormali, laments about how they are looking for a flying tile, as requested by her boss. She goes on to say that they are located in an area that isn’t easy to access, which could be anywhere around the large desert zone in the bottom left corner of the Hyrule.

Finding this echo was frustrating. We easily spent an hour scouring every corner of the map until we found the Flying Tile in a cave high up in one of the corners of the desert. Where, you ask? Let us show you.

To complete the Flying Tile quest in Echoes of Wisdom, you must find the Flying Tile echo, painfully located at the highest point in the northwest part of the Gerudo Desert. This specific echo can be hard to find unless you have decent echos that help with navigation.

Unlocking the horse beforehand helps you navigate the desert for all its quests. In some parts of the map, the screen zooms in on you in a sandstorm or slows down your movement, but the horse can bypass this and damage the dozens of enemies that take advantage of your debuffs. You have to complete a quest in the grasslands north of Gerudo Desert to get a rental horse, but it’s definitely worth the extra effort to make most of the side quests bearable or traverse the land easier.

In the northwest region are cliff areas of the Gerudo Desert, and there is a cave right before you reach the grasslands. Inside this cave are two Flying Tile enemies that’ll try to attack you the moment you get in. When they hit something, they explode; unlike other monsters, they don’t drop their echo when they die.

Instead, you must snag the echo when it lifts off the ground like other items. If you are quick enough, you can copy the echo before it starts moving toward you to explode. You can also grab it as it’s moving, but you’re testing fate. If the tile explodes, you won’t be able to grab its echo at that time—but there is a workaround if you don’t nail the timing on the first try. If the tile dies, you can leave the cave and re-enter for another shot at getting it. In case you fail on the one, there are also two more in this small area.

When you have the Flying Tile echo, return to the oasis and place it before Tormali. A cutscene plays, and after a few pieces of dialogue, you’ll be rewarded 50 Rupees for your efforts and another side quest completed.

After completing that annoying side quest, prepare for even more. Gerudo Town to the west is littered with half a dozen quests, all asking you to find certain items or echos or help out around town. It’s basically a side quest city as far as this game is concerned, with a bunch of tasks densely populating the area.
