Blizzard has found the answer to WoW Dragonflight’s profession problem

Good news for all those picking up professions later in the expansion!

Right now, picking up professions in Dragonflight is rather tedious and you’d be better off without them as you’ll be stuck grinding and trying to catch up with other crafters and gatherers that have been diligently working for months now. Thankfully, Blizzard Entertainment has a solution for professions.

In a group interview on March 20, World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas said Blizzard is looking at a catch-up system for professions. But if you spent the expansion grinding your little profession heart away, you don’t have to worry because the WoW team still wants to make a clear distinction between beginners and masters of their craft.

Sadly, the game director didn’t reveal any ideas or plans Blizzard has for the profession catch-up system, but he reassured us that all the players who did grind rare recipes should not be worried as “there is no catch-up for the full suite of profession mastery.”

Assuming Blizzard wants to create a system that’s great for catching up later in the expansion, beginners might get a system to catch up with profession talents by completing profession-related quests. On the other hand, profession veterans will still be able to progress and showcase their mastery by still being the irreplaceable server artisans that invested a lot of time and effort in their professions.

Other than that, Blizzard is looking into fixing the Work Order system as crafters never get enough orders to complete quests, let alone earn some coin. This means we might see the introduction of Work Order NPCs that will periodically post their orders.

Despite Blizzard’s hopes to implement this during Dragonflight, this project will need new technology. Still, there’s a lot of hope that professions will get the treatment they deserve in Dragonflight and won’t be just left gathering dust in your spellbooks.
