Emergency TFT 14.18 B-patch targets reworks and Augments

Big changes drop hours after 14.18 goes live.

Riot Games shipped an emergency Teamfight Tactic 14.18 B-patch on Sept. 11, adjusting balance changes that were either pushed too far or didn’t perform as intended.

Less than 24 hours after the official TFT Set 12 14.18 update, the balance team assembled a B-patch that went live at around 5pm CT on Sept. 11. Because of the size of the official update, game design director Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer warned players during the Patch Rundown that a 14.18 B-patch might get shipped immediately to combat over and underperformers. And it did in record time, hitting over a dozen Set 12 Augments. Chrono, Faerie, Jinx, Veigar, and Smolder also received adjustments. Here are the changes per Riot.

Both the Chrono and Faerie traits gained too much power from the Patch 14.18 reworks, resulting in both getting toned down.

  • Chrono breakpoint of six: Attack speed reduced from 40 to 35
  • Faerie Crown damage amplification: Adjusted to 30/45/50/60 percent

Champion balance changes buffed Smolder, and Veigar got some power back after the nerf just about buried the Set 12 champion in the meta.

  • Jinx ability duration: Increased to five seconds
  • Veigar: Ability power damage buffed to 240/330/4510 percent
  • Varus fireball damage: buffed to 50/50/100 percent attack damage
  • Smolder: Mana changed to 0/40

Augment changes hit Combat Bandages, A Golden Quest, Fine Vintage, and Hero Augments. A bug fix was also applied to Wukong’s Hero Augment, Spin to Win.

  • Combat Bandages One healing: Reduced to 100-220
  • Combat Bandages One healing duration: Increased to 2.5 seconds
  • Fine Vintage: Turn delay increased from 3 to 4
  • A Golden Quest: Gold to trigger was significantly reduced to 175
  • Big Gains: Health gained per takedown was reduced to 12
  • Combat Bandages Two: Healing adjusted from 200-500 to 170-350
  • Combat Bandages Two: The heal duration was extended to 2.5 seconds
  • Pillar of Flame (Shen): Mana reduction increased from 20 to 30
  • Pillar of Flame (Shen): Damage over time was buffed from 33/50/80 to 40/60/95 percent
  • Spider Queen (Elise): Ability poison damage was buffed from 90 to 110 percent
