How to unlock the Evolved trophy in Spider-Man 2

Miles' power is growing.

The hunt for all 42 trophies in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the way to the platinum is filled with challenges, like how to unlock the Evolved trophy.

Its description is confusing as it calls for Venom abilities. There are no less than three different things in the game nicknamed Venom, including the villain himself. But Evolved Venom abilities are something else different entirely.

Here are the details about the Evolved trophy in Spider-Man 2.

  • Silver trophy
  • “Defeat 100 enemies with Evolved Venom abilities.”

Venom abilities? You mean, like the character Venom? Not quite. Read on for more details on the trophy and just what Evolved Venom is in Spider-Man 2.

Evolved Venom abilities are Miles Morales’ bio-electrical powers. His basic Venom abilities grow with power over the course of the game, just like he discovered them in the Spider-Man: Miles Morales game.

During crucial points of the game’s events, Miles discovers his Evolved Venom abilities to help him and his friends get out of difficult situations. As they’re discovered, they’re added to his arsenal and they can be equipped in the Abilities menu.

While playing as Miles, hold down L1 and press X, O, Triangle, or Square to use Evolved Venom abilities.

These are the Evolved Venom abilities to equip in the Abilities tab of the touchpad menu:

  • Chain Lightning: Target an enemy with a bolt of lightning that chains to two more enemies.
  • Thunder Burst: Instantly reach distant targets and land with a burst of Evolved Venom that knocks down a group of enemies.
  • Reverse Flux: Release an Evolved Venom energy pulse that pulls enemies in.
  • Galvanize: Launch an enemy, shocking them and nearby enemies. Attack airborne enemy to release more lightning strikes.

If you don’t have one of these abilities yet, just keep playing, because they will unlock with story progress. To easily rack up the 100 Evolved Venom defeats you need, use them on cooldown when fighting enemies all across the game whenever they’re acquired, and make sure they’re equipped in the Abilities menu.

I made sure to power up the Evolved Venom abilities in Miles’ skill tree, too. The bottom left section of the tree is all about boosting your Evolved Venom abilities with different perks, like a second charge of Thunder Burst, or an increase of Chain Lightning from three to six enemies.

I loved to weaken enemies with melee attacks, then use Evolved Venom abilities to finish them off. It’s especially nice to get surrounded by foes and then use Reverse Flux to take out a huge number at once. The trophy will be yours in no time.
