An organization best known for teams in top esports Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends, Ninjas in Pyjamas has now entered the fold in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
NiP announced the move on Twitter today, and confirmed their roster of “Ekkz,” “Borg,” Drew “Sweaterr” Miser, and Adam “Crunch” Escobedo. The latter three players were a part of Cloud9’s PUBG roster at the gamescom Invitational. C9 hasn’t made a corresponding announcement yet, but NiP’s release called it a “smooth transition” for the two players.
“Today we’re glad to announce our venture in to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the game many of us have that special love/hate relationship with ever since its explosive launch in late March this year,” NiP said. “With such a rapid growth in playerbase and millions of gamers dropping onto the island of Erangel every single day, we’re happy to see that this game has struck the hearts of gaming enthusiasts all across the globe. Of course the Ninjas in Pyjamas want to be a part of that journey.”
“The Dream big or go home quote comes to mind, it doesn’t get much bigger than NiP, and our dreams have become a reality,” Ekkz said. “We’re honored to be under the same banner with so many legends, and look forward to a great future with our new home and family. Can’t wait to see what we can achieve together as Ninjas!”
The remaining members of Cloud9, Justin “Chappie” Andrews and Alexandru “SolidFPS” Cotiga, won the FPP Duo tournament at the gamescom Invitational in August.
