This weekend’s season eight finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead will have a very interesting lead-up program on Twitch, as several streamers will take on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ zombie mode in fun tournament.
“Survival Sunday’s Battlegrounds” will pit two teams against each other in the game’s zombie mode. One team will represent spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead, and the other will represent The Walking Dead.
Sacriel, ChocoTaco, Anthony_Kongphan, iiJERiiCHOii, VernNotice, GoldGlove, JoshOG and Fairlight_Excalibur are the eight Twitch streamers that have been tapped to participate.
Viewers will actually be able to participate by joining the game and playing as members of the zombie horde who are actively trying to kill the streamers who will be equipped with weapons and gear. The zombies will only be available to use punch melee attacks.
“The overlap between the Twitch/PUBG gaming audience and The Walking Dead Universe is incredible,” Justin Manfredi, the senior vice president of marketing at AMC Networks said. “The detailed and authentic integration of show elements into the gameplay and emotes make for both fun and engaging moments for fans of both properties. It’s a win-win.”
The Walking Dead-specific emotes will also be available to help cheer on the two teams as AMC will utilize the stream to broadcast new trailers for both of the shows.
The stream starts at 3pm CT on Sunday, April 15, and it will lead up to the season eight finale of The Walking Dead which will air at 8pm CT. That will be followed directly by the Fear the Walking Dead premiere at 9pm CT.
