Tencent is going all in with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, as the Chinese tech giant has released trailers for not one, but two separate PUBG Mobile games.
The first game is being developed by Tencent TIMI, and features more of an arcade type feel, including naval warfare, which you can check out in the trailer below.
The second is being developed by Lightspeed & Quantum Studio, and is aiming for a vibe that’s more accurate to the PC version. You can check out the trailer for the second PUBG Mobile game on its web site.
It’s no secret that the battle royale genre is very popular in gaming right now, especially in China. Plus, the success of games like PUBG and Fortnite: Battle Royale has shown that there’s a market for both a realistic, slow-paced version, and a quicker more arcade-like version, so making two distinct versions of the same IP makes sense.
There are currently no plans to bring either of these games to regions outside of China, but things could change—especially if they’re well-received.
