After months of teases and an initial announcement back in June at E3, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds new desert map was finally revealed tonight at The Game Awards.
In a special announcement, the developers confirmed that the new desert map Miramar will be available on the PC test servers tonight at midnight PT, and on Xbox One in early 2018. PUBG Corp. also confirmed that the game’s 1.0 release on PC will be Dec. 20.
In the video for the desert map, you can see new techniques like the vaulting and climbing mechanic being put to use, as well as new weapons and vehicles.
The video made it a point to compare the new map to the default map of Erangel, as the desert isn’t only a much different environment, but the map looks to play much differently as well.
The company also debuted a trailer for the Xbox One version of the game, and confirmed that the game has reached over 24 million copies sold. That number should only grow with the Xbox One version’s release next week.
