Pokemon Go Passimian and Oranguru Research Day event guide details

Pokémon Go’s Passimian and Oranguru Research Day starts on Sept. 22 from 2pm to 5pm local time. You can participate in the event by spinning any Pokéstops during the time period it’s live. Oranguru and Passimian will only spawn via Field Research Tasks during this time.

Passimian and Oranguru Research Day Event Bonuses
Shiny Passimian makes its Pokémon Go debut.
Increased Chance of finding a Shiny Passimian and Oranguru through special event-themed Field Research tasks
Mankey, Aipom, Slakoth, Chimchar, and Grookey increased wild spawn rates. Shinies are available for all Pokémon apart from Grookey

The event marks the first time Shiny Passimian has been available in Pokémon Go, nearly a year after its debut at the Pokémon World Champions in 2023 in Yokohama, Japan. The event also has some additional bonuses for those not interested in the mini-event’s main Pokémon.

A Paid Timed Research you can get from the store right now for $2 gives additional encounters with both Pokémon. For those that have already caught a shiny Oranguru from previous events and are only interested in the new Passimian shiny, the ticket might be worth getting if you want to speed up the process and increase your odds for your shiny Pokédex.

On top of these, Mankey, Aipon, Slakoth, Chimchar, and Grookey are also getting increased wild spawn encounters from 2pm to 5pm local time. Oranguru and Passimian showcases are also going to be available at select pokéstops.
