Once you unlock a Max Move, the fun doesn’t stop there—to get the most out of your Pokémon during these new Dynamax battles, you need to level up Max Moves so they deal the most damage possible. We’ll explain how.

Max Moves are different to regular moves and can only be used by Pokémon that can Dyanamax in Pokémon Go.

You first need to unlock Max moves, like Max Guard and Max Spirit, by using 400 Max Particles and 50 Candy for each. You can get Max Particles by touching Max Battle spots around the map, similar to how you get items in Pokémon Sword and Shield raids.

Once you’ve unlocked it, you can level up a Max Move on the Dynamax Pokémon main info screen using Max Particles and Candy. There is a maximum level for each, but you only need to level up once to complete the task in the To the Max Special Research questline.

To hit the max level for each one, you need 1,800 Max Particles, 150 Pokémon-specific Candy, and 40 XL Candy for each move, so it’ll be a hefty grind if you want to max out your Dynamax Pokémon completely.
