This Overwatch fan’s Super Mario Sunshine crossover skin for Mei is perfect

Mei’s Endothermic Blaster is out. Enter the F.L.U.D.D.

The star of Super Mario Sunshine, F.L.U.D.D. stands for the Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device—the weapon used by Mario in Super Mario Sunshine. Thanks to Overwatch fan artist Antonio Demico, we’ve got a glimpse of what it’d look like if Mei entered the world of Super Mario Sunshine wielding a more summer-y weapon.

“To be fair, this is not only based on a horrible pun,” Demico wrote on Twitter. (He’s talking about “Meirio.”) “Mei’s whole concept works so well with Mario Sunshine, she even has a small robot companion like Mario did. It’s always fun to interpret Super Mario’s designs because they are so simple, you can get away with a lot.”

Like with Demico’s other Overwatch concept art, the real beauty is in the details. Everything from Mei’s gloves to her holstered plunger is perfect for the fan-made Overwatch skin. You may remember Demico’s work from an Orisa skin inspired by Overwatch’s Year of the Dog event.

It feels unlikely that we’d ever get a Nintendo and Blizzard crossover skin, but Demico’s sweet fan skins are enough to keep us sated for now.
