Although there were several organizations in the running to sign yay, he signed with Envy last night, according to several sources.
Yay’s journey toward Envy
Yay had been an integral part of the Andbox roster. He signed for the team in September of 2020 and has performed consistently at the highest level. NRG player Bradley “ANDROID” Fodor joined alongside yay to form the team. While the Andbox roster underwent several roster changes throughout its tenure, yay has been a staple of the roster. With his move to Envy, this is the second team he has played for throughout his VALORANT career. Andbox will be left with two players on their roster following the removal of yay, Noah “JcStani” Smith and Zander “thwifo” Kim, as first reported by Upcomer on Aug. 2. Former Evil Geniuses player Aleksandar “ALEKSANDAR” Hinojosa and EZ5 player Eric “kanpeki” Xu have played with Andbox in their place, according to the report. Yay is statistically one of the best duelist players in the world. Over the past 90 days, he has put up an impressive 326.3 average combat score with a 1.74 Kill/Death ratio on Jett, his most played Agent, according to VLR.gg. He also performs consistently on Agents such as Sage and Reyna. Envy, however, has performed at the highest level in North American VALORANT. While the organization is yet to compete internationally, Envy has consistently performed in Challengers events. At the most recent VCT Stage 3 Challengers 1 event, which concluded July 12, Envy finished in fourth place. This followed a defeat to Sentinels in the third round of the lower bracket.
The future with Envy
Alongside Envy, Sentinels, XSET and 100 Thieves secured qualification for Challengers playoffs. Envy will face off against TSM on Wednesday, Aug. 11 in the first match with their new addition. Envy will field the following roster:
- Yay
- Pujan “FNS” Mehta
- Victor “Victor” Wong
- Austin “crashies” Roberts
- Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen (loan)
- Anthony “mummAy” DiPaolo (inactive)
