ESL has announced that Renegades is expected to miss the up-and-coming ESL Pro League LAN in Brazil due to the Asia Minor taking place on the same weekend.
This is the first true major disruption to be caused between an organisation following Valve’s reveal of the Counter-Strike: Global Offenisve Minor Championship for Asia a week ago.
The major point raised since the announcement has been the lack of future opportunities that would be readily available to teams progressing forward and with the choice of two tournaments for Renegades, they have since opted for the Asia Minor over ESL, putting their place in the world finals in jeopardy.
The team currently sits in the ESL Pro League with a 15-9 record with two games left to play and could find themselves finishing in seventh place at the time of writing.
The only ESL team currently locked into the finals is Cloud9, who is guaranteed a first place finish in NA.
