Maikelele and pita reportedly cut from Dignitas

The changes come roughly one month after assembling the squad.

Around one month after announcing its new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster, one of North America’s biggest esports organizations has allegedly removed two of its players.

Featuring an eclectic mix of talent, Team Dignitas’ CS:GO roster will reportedly no longer feature Maikil “Maikelele” Bill or Faruk “pita” Pita, according to Slingshot Esports. During a broadcast of the Esports Championship Series on May 1, the squad was seen competing without the two Swedes, and was instead playing with Jesper “TENZKI” Plougmann and Jorgen “cromen” Robertsen.

The current Dignitas roster joined the organization on March 20, and consisted primarily of the players from FaZe Clan’s original CS:GO squad, as Maikelele, Ricardo “fox” Pancheo, and Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad were part of the line-up.

Prior to signing its current line-up, Team Dignitas’ CS:GO roster consisted of the core group of Danish players that currently compete as North. The squad, which was able to win the $500,000 Epicenter LAN finals on Oct. 23, elected to not renew their contracts with the organization, and officially left on Dec. 31.

Maikelele and pita are rumored to have assembled a new squad since their departure from Dignitas. The roster is currently believed to consist of Maikelele, pita, Alexander “SKYTTEN” Carlsson, Jacob “pyth” Mourujärvi, and a temporary fifth player in Fredrik “FREDDyFROG” Gustafsson. A potential issue the roster faces, however, is the availability of pyth. The 23-year-old is still under contract with NiP, despite being benched by the Swedish organization on March 13. This means the player will have to be bought out of his existing contract if he wishes to join another squad on a permanent basis, according to Slingshot.

For now, it seems that Maikelele’s adventures in the wild will continue, as he has yet to find a permanent spot on a roster in roughly a year’s time.
