A new limited time mode called Velocity has been found in Fortnite’s 5.21 update

Fortnite’s brand new 5.21 update has already been datamined, and a new limited time mode has been found within the game’s files.

This new mode, called Velocity, sounds very similar to today’s update’s new Soaring 50’s mode, except that it will be available for Solos, Duos, and Squads instead of 50 vs. 50. The info was found out by @FNBRLeaks on Twitter.

“Velocity is a high-mobility limited time mode,” says the description of the LTM in the files. “Gliders can be re-deployed when falling from large heights. Extra Impulse Grenades, Bounce Pads and ATKs will be spawned throughout the map. The storms move twice as fast. Get in and get moving!”

For both Velocity and Soaring 50’s, when in mid-air and greater than 10 meters up, you can press the jump button to deploy your glider. Combine that with an increase in spawns for impulse grenades, bounce pads, and launch pads, and the gameplay will be very kinetic.

This mode has not been announced or made official by Epic Games in any capacity, but since it is within the game files, it’s possible that it could come to the game within the next few weeks.

Right now Soaring 50’s, along with Sniper Showdown, are your only options. Stay tuned for more possible information about Velocity soon.
