Unicorns of Love’s ADC Samuel “Samux” Fernández Fort will be sitting out today’s game against TEAM ROCCAT in the EU LCS due to illness, the organization has announced.

With Samux unable to compete, Unicorns’ substitute ADC Matúš “Neon” Jakubčík, who only recently joined the organization from Millenium, will be making his Unicorns and EU LCS debut in the match later today.

Unicorns has given no details on the extent of Samux’s injury, only wishing him well on social media. It is unknown how long Samux will be unable to play, with Neon likely to remain on the team’s starting roster for the entire weekend or until Samux makes a full recovery.

Unicorns have had an indifferent start to the season, having won only two of their six games. The team are currently tied for sixth in the EU LCS alongside Splyce and Schalke 04 but could easily fall to last place by the end of the week depending on how results go.

The team’s last victory came during week two of the Summer Split against Splyce. The team hasn’t managed to win a single game since then, losing to Team Vitality and G2 Esports in the third week of play.

Unicorns finished in last place in the 2018 Spring Split with a scoreline of 6-1, so they will need a miracle to fight for those all important Worlds spaces at the end of the season. If Unicorns want to give themselves a shot, however, at reaching the Summer playoffs at the end of the season and making it to Worlds, then the team will need to bounce back with wins against ROCCAT and H2K this week.
