Support Adrian “Adrian” Ma appears to be on the way out of League Championship Series side Team Impulse, sources close to the organization and player tell the Daily Dot. The team is currently finalizing negotiations with former Final Five and LoLPro jungler Simon “heavenTime” Jeon, who has been actively pursuing a role change over the past month and is aiming to begin playing with the team within the next week.
Impulse initially inquired about support Kevin “KonKwon” Kwon. He was unable to move teams, however, due to his outstanding contract with Team Coast. The team looked to Jeon next, who like Kwon is a fluent Korean speaker.
The team has struggled this split. It currently holds sixth place in the North American LCS with a 5-5 record. In the Spring, however, Team Impulse ended in fourth place after falling to Team Liquid in the third place match.
Ma was a part of a major restructuring of the team during the 2015 preseason in October and November of last year. After returning from the 2014 World Championship, the all-Chinese squad LMQ split—jungler Zhou “NoName” Qi-Lin retired, and top laner Xiao “ackerman” Wang, marksman Li “Vasilli” Wei-Jun, and support Zhang “Mor” Hong-Wei returned home to China to continue their professional careers.
Mid laner Yu “XiaoWeiXiao” Xian remained in North America to continue playing in the LCS. The team added Ma and jungler Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae and rebranded to Team Impulse on Dec. 27. It later recruited marksman Apollo “Apollo” Price, formerly known as “WizFujiiN” and 2013 World Champion top laner Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong.
Prior to his time with Impulse, Ma was a student at Robert Morris University, where he was a star player on the school’s League of Legends team—one of the nation’s first such programs.
