Samsung Galaxy’s honorary World Champion skins from their victory over SK Telecom T1 at Worlds last year are on the PBE to test out, and their splash artwork was revealed today on the League Esports Twitter account.
The skins go above and beyond to reference Korean culture or the Korean League of Legends community, and this splash art gives fans a chance to see each SSG-clad champion up close and personal, except for Mega Gnar, who is a statue very, very far behind the main group.
There’s a reason for Gnar’s Mega form striking a statuesque pose in the distance. In Korean culture, the white tiger is thought by many to be a divine spirit that guards the West, making the animal a sacred creature. There are even some tiger-looking statues at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul.
Gnar looks as though he’s meant to be a white tiger in this skin, so it makes sense that he’s guarding the group as a statue from a distance. Obviously, it’s a little weird that he’s in two places at once, but it’s still a nice touch.
Gnar’s Mega form isn’t the only in-game ability teased in this splash art. Behind him, way in the back, a curved wall can be seen shooting out of the ground and spreading across the field. That’s undoubtedly Taliyah’s wall from her ultimate, themed to match the skin.
If you’re excited to get your hands on these skins, they should be available soon. At the earliest, they’ll release with Patch 8.14 in about two weeks, and they’ll all cost 1,350 RP.
