HolyPhoenix to leave Dark Passage, garnering LCS attention

The biggest League of Legends competition in Turkey, the Turkish Champions League (TCL), drew to a close on April 4 when Dark Passage fell to a 3-0 clean sweep in the grand finals against Beşiktaş e-Sports Club. After the disappointing result, star AD carry Anıl “HolyPhoenix” Işık will end his second stint in the Dark Passage lineup, according to sources close to the team.

HolyPhoenix is reportedly unhappy with the performance of his Dark Passage teammates in the TCL playoffs. In 2014, the team qualified for the World Championship as the international wild card. But this year, they’ve ceded even regional dominance to Beşiktaş, who topped the regular season standings and then swept Dark Passage in the playoff finals.

The AD Carry is reportedly on the radar of various League Championship Series (LCS) outfits, though it’s unclear whether he has any offers at this time. The LCS attention is no surprise considering how well regarded HolyPhoenix is as a player. The World Championship veteran is one of the best in his region and has shown it multiple times on the international stage.

Since the World Championship, he’s been trying to take the next step in his career. He left Dark Passage to join Aces High, and the team famously took a game off of Team Dignitas at IEM Cologne prior to the start of the 2015 LCS. His time there would be short, however, as he would go on to rejoin Dark Passage, while Aces High would become Beşiktaş e-Sports Club.

Now he may be making another move, and this time to one of the biggest stages in League of Legends.
