G2 Esports moved past Fnatic in the EU LCS semifinals, proving again why they are the new kings of Europe.
G2 Esports survive an early scare from Fnatic to end the series 3-1 and book their place in the Spring Split final in Hamburg, Germany on April 23 and will face either Unicorns of Love or Misfits.
In game one Fnatic gave themselves hope, combining impressive team play and communication to gain early lane pressure and score a comfortable win.
In game two and three from Fnatic gifted G2 Esports an easy pair of wins in the series. Fnatic were looking to bring the classic land swap back into the EU LCS to shake up G2 but in each instance it only backfired, gifting G2 two early towers that helped them gain pressure and control on the map to force a win.
The final game of the series offered a closely fought encounter which ultimately led to Fnatic’s downfall due to some poor positioning. G2 Esports were quick to control the map through vision and take command of the objectives in a much improved performance.
Fnatic will head into the third place match on April 22 against the loser of the second semi-final.
