Chinese League players get free in-game rewards in celebration of Asian Games victory

After taking down South Korea, the Chinese team has earned free stuff for its country's players.

China defeated Korea in the 2018 Asian Games League of Legends tournament, and now, it’s time for Chinese players to celebrate.

Players on China’s various League servers will be able to log into their accounts, complete a single game of any game mode, and win rewards starting today. The rewards include a single random permanent skin or a selection of champions and skins to try out for one week. The full reward list is on the official event website.

China mounted a bit of a comeback to win the tournament this week, which may surprise League esports fans who witnessed the region’s dominance at the Mid-Season Invitational this year. Korea’s team, helmed by none other than Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, won their group with a clean 6-0 sweep over China’s 4-2. That being said, China were the underdogs heading into the finals.

China must have received a playoffs buff, though, because they beat Korea with ease when finals rolled around, only giving up a single game in the best-of-five.

The finals between these two regions helped League to reach a total of over one million concurrent viewers on Twitch, marking a massive success for League’s first appearance at the very important sporting event.

The in-game event lasts only three days, until Sept. 2.
