How to deal with the Bracken in Lethal Company

The Flower Man isn't friendly,

Lethal Company is filled with horrifying creatures, but none of them are as bad as the Bracken. The Bracken is a tall, stealthy, and aggressive being which makes it hard for players to remain calm when attacked by one.

How to kill or avoid the Bracken in Lethal Company

How to evade the Bracken

Now, before you start planning your revenge, hear out the basics. While you can definitely “kill” a Bracken, it might not be the best approach at all times—especially if you are playing alone.

A Bracken is hard to spot, with just two of its glaring, white eyes visible in the dark, and Lethal Company’s eerie backdrop doesn’t make it easier on the fainthearted either. In fact, a Bracken can make the bravest player jumpy. While they’re hard to spot, there’s a good chance you’ll know a Bracken is around before you see it. If you run into a Bracken Room, it means you’ve definitely got a Bracken crawling around somewhere.

Tip:

A Bracken Room is fairly easy to spot thanks to its uniquely different look from the rest of the building. Their walls are lined with wood paneling, and their floors are carpeted. Cozy!

Luckily, you can avoid its sneaky motives with some easy non-violent moves as well.

Strategies for keeping a Bracken at bay:

  • DO NOT stare at the Bracken for long periods of time.
  • Give the Bracken quick glances and run away from it as fast as you can.
  • Glancing at a Bracken will put it in evade mode, scaring and distracting it for a moment.

Staring at a Bracken will make it chase you or the nearest player frantically. If you manage to trigger one of them, run away from it while exchanging quick glances with it from time to time. It should leave you alone after a while.

How to kill the Bracken

Of course, a friend can make it easier to handle a Bracken in Lethal Company, and you’ll probably need at least one teammate to actually fight and take the Bracken down.

I haven’t tried doing so yet, but it seems impossible to kill a Bracken when you’re solo. You’ll need someone to tase it using a Zap Gun or stun it using a Stun Grenade while you beat it to death with a Shovel or a Stop or Yield Sign.

It takes up to five to six hits to kill a Bracken, so when you start whacking, start counting.

What happens if a Bracken kills you?

If you fall prey to the Bracken’s unpredictable nature and die, it’ll drag your body to a designated room, containing the bodies of all deceased crewmates. It’s usually situated below a Bracken Room, but it’s not impossible for the Bracken’s victims to be taken into the Bracken Room itself as well.

Tip:

It’s important to keep the location of a Bracken Room in mind, because gathering up the bodies of your deceased teammates can greatly reduce the fee you’ll all face for their untimely demise. Of course, heading toward the Bracken’s territory definitely invites the possibility that the Bracken will grab another victim.

If you have a teammate, ask them to keep track of whether the creature is taking you. They can retrieve your dead body after a while, but beware—the Bracken could be nearby. Also, be ready for one of the spookiest times of your life when you get down there.
