A neutral Demon is coming to Hearthstone in Kobolds and Catacombs

It's rare to see a non-Warlock Demon.

A new Demon has been revealed from Hearthstone’s upcoming expansion, Kobolds and Catacombs.

Void Ripper is a three-mana 3/3 Demon with a Battlecry ability that swaps the attack and health of all minions on the board. While most other Demons have been Warlock cards, Void Ripper is a neutral Demon.

The mechanic of swapping minions’ attack and health is seen on some other cards, but the Priest spell Confuse is the only other card that swaps every minions’ attack and health. While sometimes useful to negate large attacks or kill high-health minions, swapping every minions’ attack and health typically isn’t highly valued.

Kooky Chemist and Crazed Alchemist are the other two minions that can swap one specific minion’s attack and health. These two cards typically aren’t seen in constructed, unless it’s in a weird or creative deck.

Void Ripper shouldn’t see much play in constructed, even though it’s interesting to have a Demon as a neutral card. This may be a sign that there will be more Demon synergies revealed later for the new expansion—and Warlocks might not get to hoard them all.

Kobolds and Catacombs will be released Dec. 7. You can pre-order 50 packs now and get a unique card back.

Correction Dec. 3, 10:45am CT: The headline of this article has been updated. Void Ripper is not the first neutral Demon in Hearthstone.
