Paladin has always been about buffs and healing in the Warcraft lore and this expansion and the Paladin quest The Last Kaleidosaur takes it to a whole new level. The goal of the deck is to get to your Primalfin Champion and cast a bunch of cheap spells on the minion at one go and once the minion dies you get back your buffs that you can re-use to instantly complete your quest.
The deck has very few cards from Un’goro since most of the powerful buffs and removals for Paladin are in the classic set. Let’s take a look at the inclusions from the new set in the deck.
Adaptation: It is a cheap 1 mana spell that allows you to Adapt any minion you can target and ideally you want to use it on one of your Primalfin Champions to get maximum value. We have included sufficient 1 mana buffs to ensure you get your quest done as early as possible and you do not need to draw out the game for too long. Since Galvadon is just 5 mana, you ideally want to close out the game by turn 8 or so at best.
Primalfin Champion: This is one of the most important cards in the deck to make the quest work for you. Ideally you want to save the card and use up at least 2 buffs in one turn to make sure you get value out of the card. Since its deathrattle gives you back all of the buffs you cast on the minion, you do not need to run that many buffs in the deck and just a handful of them is enough to get the quest completed.
The Last Kaleidosaur: If you cast 6 spells on your minions you get access to Galvadon which is a 5 mana 5/5 that Adapts 5 times. Do note that the buffs you cast on Primalfin Champion will be returned to your hand and you can use them on Galvadon to end the game in two turns if you land something like Stealth and Windfury. And even if you do not get those two effects you can have two more tries if you have both copies of Adaptation in your hand. While it is one of the hardest quests to complete, the reward is extremely powerful and can close out games quite handily.
We hope you enjoy trying out Galvadon once the expansion releases. We will be back with more brews in the coming days so stay tuned for more updates!
