Tay Zonday, he of “Chocolate Rain” fame, started streaming on Twitch a couple of weeks ago with Team Fortress 2. Yesterday he dipped his toes into Hearthstone, picking up the game for the very first time.

After a few hours playing through the tutorial and trying to get to grips with the basic Mage deck, the internet started to work its magic. Zonday had shown his battle tag on stream and was getting inundated with friend requests, but some enterprising Twitch users managed to get his username to Octavian “Kripparrian” Morosan. One of Hearthstone‘s top streamers, Kripp was already streaming at the time to his audience of up to 20,000 viewers.

The two connected, and the challenge was made.

While Zonday struggles with the mechanics of his own cards, he is not even able to pay attention to Kripp’s Hobgoblin and Angry Chicken onslaught. Feeling mercy for his inexperienced opponent, Kripp eventually conceded rather than deliver the killing blow.

The two went back and forth for around an hour, with Kripp trying increasingly poor decks in order to give Zonday a chance to no avail.

Despite his inexperience, Zonday can now say he has a win over one of Hearthstone‘s most popular personalities. Next stop: legend.
