Deathrattles are going to be a big deal in Knights of the Frozen Throne.

Following on from the game’s first expansion Curse of Naxxramas, which had a ton of Deathrattle cards, the keyword is making a comeback in Frozen Throne with lots of new options. The Ice Crown Citadel is full of the undead, after all.

The latest iteration of this is Fatespinner, which has a new and so-far unique twist on deathrattles.

Choose one has been a staple of Druid since the beginning in cards like Druid of the Claw, Ancient of Lore, and Keeper of the Grove. But Fatespinner allows the choice to be secret. It adds one of two deathrattles—either an AoE effect, or a buff to your minions.

This presents an interesting choice for the player. Choosing AoE or buffs based on the time the card is played is one thing. But you have to try and predict the board state when the minion dies.

Thankfully, with just three health, that might not have to be a decision too many turns ahead. The 5/3 shape for five mana is one of the biggest downsides to this otherwise really interesting card.
