Introduction
The Grand Tournament is just around the corner, and with it, thousands of new possibilities have just arrived!
I loved what we’ve seen from the Grand Tournament so far – not only the cards seem to be a lot more consistent than prior expansions, they seem to be overall more directed to what Hearthstone really is than other expansions were. Now new decks are able to be born, but also old decks that weren’t that good are capable of existing and being competitive because of this expansion.
Brewing new deck is, to me, the most fun aspect of Hearthstone, so I hope you all enjoy the decklists! These are decklists that I think that are a good baseline to start testing the deck once the expansion hits. With playtesting and tweaking, we can then refine and tune the deck to the meta and make it more consistent. I’ll be showcasing 4 decks with a short summary each.
Dragon Priest
twilight-guardian and chillmaw: Dragon decks were always very close to working, if it wasn’t for that non-existent 4-drop… Well, no more! Twilight Guardian seem like the perfect fit for Dragon Decks that were in need of a 4-drop in order to be playable. Except for Warlocks, that have twilight-drake, no other class has a decent 4-drop Dragon to play with, and that is the reason Dragon decks weren’t playable right after Blackrock Mountain came out, but I believe that is about to change with Twilight Guardian.
I also believe Chillmaw is going to be a pretty decent dragon, because not only it forces opponents to deal with him due to its taunt, it 1-for-1s dr-boom most of the times and it also is a perfect response to Grim Patron decks, because you simply stop them from rolling over you with their combos the following turn whenever you drop this.
Because of these 2 cards, combined with a couple of other Class cards I decided the strongest and most obvious Dragon build to be done was Dragon Priest, let’s take a look at how it went:
Well, let’s discuss this deck a little:
This is the skeleton of what is to become (hopefully) a playable Dragon Priest. There are still a lot of cards we must test in order to know if they are good or not, like Twilight Whelp that we weren’t able to test before this date. Other cards such as justicar-trueheart and confessor-paletress that we just can’t tell if they are good or not, and we actually need to playtest in order to know that for sure.
This seems to be a very consistent deck overall, with a very high number of Dragons (8), you are likely to always have a Dragon in your hand to activate minions like Blackwing Corruptor, Blackwing Technician, Wyrmrest Agent and Chillmaw.
The reason behind my choice of using Trueheart and Paletress instead of 2 other Bomb-Dragons is because I believe in these cards potential, and I don’t see other Dragons being as good as the ones I choose or even as competitive as.
